Women's day

In Italy, the emergency situation for the new coronavirus precipitated dramatically during last few weeks. Currently whole Italy is lockdown: you cannot leave or enter in the country, you have to stay at home as much as possible, work from home if possible, avoid aggregations and you can leave your home only in case of emergencies or to stock up on supplies.
The 8th of March has been the International Women's Day and demonstrations and events were planned all over the world. In Italy everything has obviously been canceled. Here, in Spain and in particular in Menorca, where the number of infections is not high yet, everything still proceeds normally, instead. For the 8th, conferences, workshops, parades and activities were organized in various cities of the island. My friends and I took part in Mahon events.
Before to go to the town hall square I made an hour-long phone call with my parents (who live in Bergamo, the Italian city with more COVID-19 cases), to make sure they were fine. They had forgotten it was Women's Day, of course. This made me reflect on how in a moment of emergency everything else loses importance and our values and priorities are reviewed, rediscussed, reconsidered.

In the town hall square of Mahon there were stands, banners and a stage where stories and testimonies were read in defense of the rights of women all around the world.
Nina, Giulia, Fanny, me and other friends took part in the protest choreography "Un violador en tu camino" symbol of the international movement born in Chile, and we joined the parade in  the streets of the city guided by the energetic beat of Mahon's feminist batucada "MENDÓ". It was very nice, but every time my neighbor, while dancing, hit my face with the hair I thought about coronavirus.
