The lockdown has been extended till the 26th of April and it will probably last even more.  Since recreational activities for children (including Casal ones) are, rightly, suspended, Molí de Baix has created an online magazine addressed to children and teenagers suggesting activities to do at home. The magazine is titled I ara que fem?  ("And now what?!"), it's out online once a week and it collects recipes, handicrafts, physical exercises and ideas from Casal workers and Casal users as well. I'm handling the section of games and puzzles, with comic strips, labyrinths, word search puzzles and "spot the differences" drawings. Here the first volume, at Molí de Baix Facebook page. Bergamo

On the 18th of March a picture of a long queue of army trucks leaving the Italian city of Bergamo has been spread all around the world, showing for the first time how sirious the coronavirus emergency had become. The army trucks were carrying away dead bodies to be cremated in other city because the city crematory was insufficient for the number of daily deaths. Bergamo is my home town, my family live there, and this impressive image struck me very hard. Just after seeing it I realized how bad was the situation there and I started to be worried for the people I know. I feel deeply powerless for beeing far away, but even if I was there, it would be impossible to take care of ill relatives and friends. When someone dies, he/she dies alone, without farewells, hugs, funeral. Hope this will finish soon, everywhere. Bergamo, Italy, 18/03/2020

Quarantine diaries

Quarantine - Day 16 We are in official lockdown from the 14th of March. The Spanish government, a week later than the Italian one, decided to adopt strict measures to contain the spread of the virus. The lockdown has been already extended till the 13th of April. We can leave the house just to go buy food and medicines. Police officers drive in the streets checking on pedestrians.  The months of the ESC project were passing very fast, but suddenly time stopped. Now, the other volunteers and I spend the days working from home, reading, writing, drawings, sunbathing in the terrace and watching movies.
